I'm Almost Ready, But....

I want to say thank you all so much for your kind words on the passing of my brother. He will be missed, but he is now in a better place. Along with that, things just don't seem to be going right for me lately...

I have had to have a heart catherization on Monday because I have now developed a breathing problem. The Dr told me that all my valves to my heart are perfectly clear, so now I have to see a Pulmonologist on Dec. 4th. I am sure hoping that 2012 turns out to be a better year for me. I only have two motifs left and have been working on choosing them.

To add a little side note here, my lace group had a retreat two weekends ago along with three ladies from a lace group in Illinois. We worked on Romanian Point Lace and we really had a nice time. They would like to join us again the next time we have another retreat. I am going to enclose a picture of my first finished project that I made and I will remove it when I put in my last two motifs. I did not make the braid for this one, but have made my own briad now for my next projects.

During this retreat, I had only one breathing attack, which was only my second one. After that the plans for my tests were set up.

Motif #23

This is the Canadian Sugar Maple Leaf Deisned by Gale Marshall in 2002. I used HDT from Yarnplayer in size 20 called Knitty Gritty. (love the thread) The only problem I had was the pattern only had directions for the first 'Trefoils' as there called, but there are five, so I had to go back and repeat number one. This is a good size piece finished so I'm hoping it will show up a little better in my window. I was told that white would actually show up better. I'm going to make one in white just to see, but later. (Only two more to go!!!)

Motif #22 (a & b)

Celtic Style Christmas Wreath

I made two of the same but using different colors. Made with Lizbeth size 20. The pattern is by Birgit Phelps 2001.

Motif #21

This pattern came from a Anna magazine,
September 2009. I made this to set under neath a tea pot, but the pot is to big, so under the cup it will go instead, maybe...

Again I used Lizbeth thread size 20 #532.

Motif #20

'Quantiesque' Snowflake

This pattern is by Jon Yusoff 2008

Done in Lizbeth size 40 thread. The variegated is called Carousel and the other is Ecru which I used by mistake. I actually wanted to do it in the natural, but....goofed. I think it looks good in this color anyway.

Motif #19

I have finally finished my Celtic doily. The name on this pattern is Lenore English 09/05. The thread I used was Omega size 30, color 1336/Natural along with HDT from Marilee at Yarnplayer. I had purchased Spring Grass which is a variegated thread in size 30 and then asked Marilee if she could please dye for me one of the solid colors from the variegated thread. Together we picked the Pistachio color. I was so happy when it came and now that I have it done, I am very pleased with it. It did turn out smaller than I thought it would, but that's OK to. I took a picture of both sides of it because it looks so different being a Celtic design. I'm still wondering which side is the right side. I have my eye on a couple more Celtic designs, but now....which one!
(I was in such a hurry to post this, that I have not even cleaned or pressed this yet, so forgive me for that!)

Motif #18

Heart

I had decided to finish something that I started in between R. Peels pieces. Now at least I have one sideline project finished. (more to do yet!)

I made this using Manuela size 20 thread and I got the pattern from "LEARN TO TAT" by Janette Baker. I had ordered this book on a whim and was surprised to see some really helpful information in it. It came with a DVD which I now have found time to watch and found it to be a very good. I think I will now give it to my lace group for our library. I started tatting in 1988 and even though I still have more to learn, this book is a very good beginner book and I would like to share it.
