I just finished this one up this morning so I could get it in the mail. I have only made squares ones and that was over 20 years ago. I couldn't get them quite as square as I think they should be, but I had to get this done. If anyone has any suggestions please post them...!!! Thanks.

I have decided to leave my egg book for a bit. I am now working on a 'Round Robin' with some of the ladies in my lace group, so because of that I will now enter these until we are done. I felt pretty nerves about it in the beginning because I have never designed anything on my own. Even though I'm not great at it, it's not working out to bad. This first one is the one I was given and then there is mine...!!

Egg No. 10 from "TATTING Easter Eggs" by Kirsten Wind Hansen. I used Lizbeth #602 Natural and #661 Country Turquoise - Med. (I love this color..) It only took me a little bit to figure out how this one went together...until I got to the end...! In order to finish I had to work with two RINGS at the same time, working through the other one to finish the first one. It will be a while before I tackle this one again...I do like it though....can you kind of see what I mean..??? I haven't pressed it or nothing. Me and it need a break!

No. 9 in "TATTED Easter Eggs" by Kirsten Wind Hansen. Used Lizbeth white along with #627 called Shell Pink - Med. I'm sure getting a chance to use a lot of the colors that I purchased. Got to the end of this one and only had to take out one chain and two rings because I connected to a wrong picot and really glad I was right at the end....! I wanted to post it, so I stiffened it and then used my hair dryer....last time I'll ever do that! I saw to much of the wax paper that I had it on, on the tatted egg. I then put it between a non-stick pressing sheet, re-pressed it and then blotted it to get the wax off. Err, lesson learned! Yes, I like this one.....

I couldn't sleep, so guess what I did....This is Egg No. 12 in the "TATTED Easter Eggs" book by Kirsten Wind Hansen. My picots are probably not even, but I tried using the picot sizer, but for this many, forget it! Lizbeth thread size 20 in No. 631 called Country Purple Lt. The book said to make the picots in 4mm size. According to my metrics book that would only be .16 of an inch! They did not look that small in the book.....I do feel that these are a bit to big, but it does depend where you looking...ha, ha!

Egg #8 in the book "TATTED Easter Eggs" by Kirsten Wind Hansen. Either the picture is blurry or it's the colors in the spiral cords.... I used Lizbeth size 20 in white and #104, Summer Fun... Now I have to do a simpler one! The number of twists to use in different sections was not very clear to me in the book.

Decided to use a sold color this time, but still made with Lizbeth size 20, No. 621 called Dusty Rose. I love the color. I need more practice with this type of tatting, mainly following the pattern and the count better. That's all I'm saying....accept I have stiffened it yet.

I used Lizbeth white size 20 thread. I used tiny antique gold beads. Maybe the beads could have been a bit bigger. I haven't used beads and then only once years ago.

Have now done #14 in my "TATTED Easter Eggs" book by Kirsten Wind Hansen. Again I used Lizbeth thread size 20, in #104 called Summer fun. I used a roll stitch on the top, bottom and both sides which I have only done once before, but this time I had to wind it 25 times. The only other time I did it I rolled it about 10. Actually, I like it..!

Easter egg #6 (again, it's number in book) This one looked so easy...and it was, kinda... It's when I got to the end, it got a bit confusing for me where to actually end..., but I did it! I used Lizbeth size 20, #106.... It seems like there is more colors in this thread, but I guess it all depends on the distance between colors as to how many of the colors you will actually use...I hope you understand. (It's like I'm questioning which ball of thread I actually used...but this one was in my little basket!

Egg #5. I use Lizbeth size 20 #131 which is the Variegated. For the white I used DMC Cebelia, size 30. I won't combine these two together next time if I can avoid it. The white was two soft in comparison to the variegated thread. I think I should have made smaller picots or different white thread. It looks crowded in there.....

I have now re-done this egg. This time I used Lizbeth thread size 20 for both colors. The new variegated color is 124, Spring Garden. I guess it doesn't look much different, but it sure felt different while doing it....

I have started working from my "TATTED Easter Eggs" by Kirsten Wind Hansen. What with Easter right around the corner, it seems like a good time. In my first challenge I posted one of the eggs from this book already, so I won't post it again. I usually put the # according to which one I'm doing in the book. This is Egg No 1 in book.

Decided to do yet another one from Mary Konior's book "Tatting with Visual Patterns'. It's the same color as another one that I did, but honestly, the pattern is different, but it kind of does looks the same. Again I used Lizbeth size 20. I know it looks easy, but I started it last night and after I got half way though I noticed that I had done six on both the outside and inside....but! It was on five on the inside....good thing it was rings! It didn't take me to long to correct it. I'll pay more attention next time however..!

Small Celtic Knot Flowers done from the book called 'Celtic Tatting Knots & Patterns By Rozella F Linden'. I just love all of the things in this book. I thought I would do something small again, so I would be ahead more and then tackle a larger project. It is small, but definitely tricky...!

The one on the left I goofed on the twist in the vines and leaves, so I had to do it over. I could have taken it apart, but I had already cut off the shuttles.
I used a HDT for the first flower called 'Nectarine' from Yarnplayer and the second flower was Lizbeth #131 called Vineyard Harvest. Both size 20. The green is also Lizbeth #684, Leaf Green - Med.

Let me tell you it was a trick getting the flower together and the first flower had to be re-done. I have now figured out a way to do it better and a little bit easier....!

I woke up this morning and was in the mood to look through some of my tatting books. I spotted this Shamrock in 'Transitions in Tatting From Flat to Floral" by Sharon Briggs. This one was pretty easy to do, but today being the day, I decided to post it.

I just had to get this done for today because St Patrick's day is tomorrow...!
I tatted this using Lizbeth size 20 in colors 152 and 638.

In case anyone else had made these, I want you to notice that they are both a little different. According to the printed directions, the one on the bottom was done according to that.

However, when I looked at the picture of it up close, it was different. I tried looking around for differences on the net, but I couldn't find any. The upper one has picots connecting the chains between each one. I myself think I like the bottom one better. It's the shaping I think....

If anyone else knows the answer to difference, please let me know....

This is #1 of my second challenge. This is called 'Posy' and it is from "Tatting with Visual Patterns" from my one book by Mary Konior. I made this with Lizbeth thread size 20 #670, Victorian Red.

The one on the left was the first one, but I had a terrible time connecting the picots, so I did it again after more practice. Not one twisted picot in this one. I have a shirt that I would like to attach it to, so now I have to figure out the best way to stitch it on. Any suggestions? Gladly appreciated.... PS I have a second book by Konior that I got on eBay coming. Can't wait!

This bookmark was designed by, grrlshapedthing and she is from New Zealand and a member of InTatters. She named it 'Supermodel Bookmark'. I used Lizbeth thread size 20 #131 called Vineyard Harvest. By the time I finished it my eyes were blurry, but I wanted it up today so I could finish this challenge which took me way to long. I will be doing another one, but I want to get a good start with it first and start doing things from some of my many purchased books.

Finally! I saw this heart on Trina Halls page and it was a free pattern designed by Susan Fuller. The thread I used was size 20 Elizabeth #117 called Country Side. I will select another pattern later today to finish this challenge. Things are looking up and I'm back in the spirit of things again. Please forgive my long delay.

This is the Canadian Sugar Maple Leaf Deisned by Gale Marshall in 2002. I used HDT from Yarnplayer in size 20 called Knitty Gritty. (love the thread) The only problem I had was the pattern only had directions for the first 'Trefoils' as there called, but there are five, so I had to go back and repeat number one. This is a good size piece finished so I'm hoping it will show up a little better in my window. I was told that white would actually show up better. I'm going to make one in white just to see, but later. (Only two more to go!!!)

'Quantiesque' Snowflake

Done in Lizbeth size 40 thread. The variegated is called Carousel and the other is Ecru which I used by mistake. I actually wanted to do it in the natural, but....goofed. I think it looks good in this color anyway.

I have finally finished my Celtic doily. The name on this pattern is Lenore English 09/05. The thread I used was Omega size 30, color 1336/Natural along with HDT from Marilee at Yarnplayer. I had purchased Spring Grass which is a variegated thread in size 30 and then asked Marilee if she could please dye for me one of the solid colors from the variegated thread. Together we picked the Pistachio color. I was so happy when it came and now that I have it done, I am very pleased with it. It did turn out smaller than I thought it would, but that's OK to. I took a picture of both sides of it because it looks so different being a Celtic design. I'm still wondering which side is the right side. I have my eye on a couple more Celtic designs, but now....which one! (I was in such a hurry to post this, that I have not even cleaned or pressed this yet, so forgive me for that!)

I had decided to finish something that I started in between R. Peels pieces. Now at least I have one sideline project finished. (more to do yet!)
I made this using Manuela size 20 thread and I got the pattern from "LEARN TO TAT" by Janette Baker. I had ordered this book on a whim and was surprised to see some really helpful information in it. It came with a DVD which I now have found time to watch and found it to be a very good. I think I will now give it to my lace group for our library. I started tatting in 1988 and even though I still have more to learn, this book is a very good beginner book and I would like to share it.

The thread used for these motifs is Olympus Size 40 #M15. Now this one had to have a larger picot to start with in the first ring and I didn't have a problem until I wanted to flatten it out. I don't know if maybe the picot should have been larger or if I was to make the other ring joined bigger!

Fern

I am now working from Rosemarie Peel's book, 20 Tatted Motifs. There will be sections to this in order to complete the picture that I will be making in the end. I am using Olympus thread size 40, which is equivalent to size 30, is what I was told. As far as the color, I took the label off and now I'm not sure of the exact # of this color. I will be needing more of these, but two is enough for display.

Maple Leaf

I used the same pattern as I did for Motif #9, but am now doing it with HDT size 20 and the Green one is called Forest that I purchased from Yarnplayer.com. On these two I did the stem different. On the green one I did the stem using the second half of the DS, but on the Sugar Plum one I did the first half. It seem to lay better using the first half and I don't know why it should actually make any difference. I am now trying to finish another piece that I started earlier, but never finished and it's not a leaf!

Maple Leaf

I have finally used one of my HDT's! It is the Maple Leaf Motif by Tammy Rodgers. I used size 40 HDT thread that I purchased from Marilee, at Yarnplayer and it's called Sugar Maple. I have to say that I really like using this thread because I feel like I am more in control with it. I am looking for more leaf patterns so they aren't all the same. I love to hang things in my window during the different seasons. I started off noticing that I made a mistake in the beginning, so I ended compensating for it by increasing the number in the chain. I have my shuttle already wound to make it correct this time.

Celtic Snowflake

This pattern by Rozella Linden was done using Manuela size 20 thread. This motif to me was a stickler! I was tatting one way and all of a sudden I was back over making a join in a previous section. I felt like I was going backwards! I love it for it's simple Celtic, but I see that I need some practice on this one and plan on making it again.

Candy Cane

Here is a candy cane that was designed by Julie Patterson in 2004. I used DMC Cebelia 30 thread. I am going to be honest here and tell you that in the beginning I was confused with the pattern and at one time I had to take out about 4 chains because I didn't place the thread correctly. Now that I am finished I understand it, but if I wait to long to make it again I sure hope that I remember how I did it.

Christmas Tree

The pattern for this motif came from Be-stitched called Tatted Christmas tree. I used Altin Basak size 50 in white/silver metallic. I had to take out a couple of mistakes and that is when I almost regretted having used the metallic thread, but all and all I am satisfied with it and I do like the thread anyway.
I have retaken the picture, but the metallic thread still doesn't really show up. The metallic thread caused me a bit of a problem because it just doesn't show up.

The pattern was fairly easy and it was the first time I did a lock join stitch and it was very easy.

I also used one of my new shuttles that I had made for me by Randy Houtz. I still have to get used to it a little bit, but I did like using it.

I did another of the same tree using the same thread, but this time the Gold Metallic. It's using the same pattern so I'm not counting it as another motif. I also used another one of my new shuttles also made by Randy Houtz.

Celtic Egg

Celtic Egg Pattern adapted and worked by Helen Bailey from a circular motif by Sue Hanson. I used Opera thread size 20. I had a bit of problem following the pattern and did a lot of it by looking at the finished piece. Now I would like to make more of them in different colors.

Here is a heart that I found at Rosemarie Peels web sit. I made it using Manuela size 20 thread. I just loved this little thing and it was the first time I did the twisted chain, can you believe that! I should have pressed it better the little ring at the bottom doesn't show up very well here.

I have finally gotten something done. I still want to weave a ribbon down the center to hide some of the things I can't seem to iron out. This came from a book called "TATTING DIMPLED RINGS". I made it using Manuela, Country Blue 021, size 20 thread. It was a challenenge for me as I have only done basic tatting and now I am trying to graduate up to what I have been seeing a lot of others doing and Ithink I am going to skip Dimpled Rings for a while also. I have two more in the works.......

This is my first motif. I used Opera size 20 white. The pattern came from "EASY TATTING" This was the first time that I ever made a ring by starting with a larger picot to create the center. I see where it could have been a smaller picot. Aside from that it was easy.
